Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2026

LoanClock ("we," "us") built this Service so you can check your student loan repayment options without linking a bank account or handing over your SSN. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and how you can delete it.

1. What we collect

DataWhy
Email addressPasswordless sign-in link, subscription receipts, deadline/recertification reminders
Loan balance, income (AGI), household sizeSelf-reported by you, used only to calculate repayment estimates and personalize reminders, never verified against any external record
Servicer notice date (optional)To calculate your personal 90-day deadline
Servicer letter text you paste into the AI explainer (Plus only)Sent to an AI provider to generate a plain-English explanation; not stored in our database
Payment informationHandled entirely by Stripe; we never receive or store your card number
Basic request logs (IP, user agent)Standard Cloudflare hosting logs, used only for security/abuse prevention, retained briefly

We do not ask for or collect your Social Security number, date of birth, loan account number, or bank/servicer login credentials, ever. If a feature ever needed one of these, we'd tell you why, in advance, in this policy.

2. What we don't do

  • We don't sell your personal information. Full stop.
  • We don't use third-party advertising trackers, ad pixels, or cross-site analytics cookies.
  • We don't link your bank account or credit file.

3. Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers ("processors") to run LoanClock. Each only receives what it needs to do its job:

ProviderPurposeWhat they receive
NeonDatabase hostingYour account and loan-profile records
CloudflareHosting, CDN, edge computeStandard request logs
StripeSubscription billingEmail, payment details (Stripe is PCI-compliant; we never see your card number)
ResendTransactional email deliveryEmail address, message content (reminders/receipts)
Anthropic, and optionally OpenAI / GoogleAI-generated letter explanations (Plus only, only when you use that feature)The letter text you paste in for that single request, not linked to your account by the AI provider

We disclose data to law enforcement only when legally required (e.g., a valid subpoena).

4. Your rights

Regardless of where you live, you can email support@loanclock.app to:

  • Access: get a copy of what we have on file for your email address.
  • Correct: fix inaccurate balance/income/household data.
  • Delete: permanently remove your account and loan profile. We'll confirm by email within 45 days.
  • Opt out of email: every reminder email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.

We don't charge a fee for these requests. We may ask you to verify the email address on the account before acting on a request.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

California's CCPA/CPRA gives you the rights above plus the right to know the categories of personal information collected and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. We don't sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined by California law, so there's no opt-out-of-sale link to click. There's simply nothing being sold.

Utah residents (UCPA)

We're a Utah company, so it seemed right to hold ourselves to the same access/deletion/opt-out rights described above for every user, not just once we're large enough for the Utah Consumer Privacy Act to legally require it.

5. Data retention

We keep your account and loan-profile data as long as your account is active, plus a short period afterward for legal/accounting records if you were ever a paying subscriber. Letter text submitted to the AI explainer is passed through to the AI provider for that single request and is not retained in our database. Delete your account anytime to remove everything immediately.

6. Security

All traffic to LoanClock is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Access to Plus features uses a random, unguessable token rather than a password, so there's no password database to leak. We minimize what we collect specifically so that a worst-case data exposure is as low-stakes as possible. There's no SSN, no bank credentials, and no loan account number to lose.

7. Children's privacy

LoanClock is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and notify active subscribers by email before the change takes effect.
